Setting the Stage
In the land of Michigan dwelt a woman who dated a man named Doug. And it came to pass that Doug wrote of their dating in his blog on the internet. Although the woman liked it not, yet wrote Doug of her every Wednesday. And the woman said to herself, “I shall arise, and create my own blog, and write of Doug, and see how he liketh it.” And the woman did so, and it was very difficult.
Now the woman taught at a Christian school, and the school was an immense blessing to her and to all who taught, because the love of Christ dwelt there. And it came to pass that in a class, a student asked about the woman’s husband. And the woman replied, “I have no husband, for I am divorced.” And the student’s countenance was sad, but the woman said, “Nay, be not sad, for much time has passed since then, and I am well.” And the woman remembered how the school had soothed and comforted her during her divorce, and she was thankful for it and thought no more of the sadness.
Now it came to pass that later on the same day, another student came unto the woman and said, “Dost thou not date, seeing thou art divorced?” And the woman replied unto him, “Nay, I date not, for I have been too busy at school and home and church and the university.” And the student said, “Why dost thou not date this teacher who hath not a wife?” And the woman replied, “That teacher is young enough to be my son, and it would be foolishness.” Yet the student spake out of his kindness, and the woman pondered these things in her heart. But the woman knew that she was very busy with the children’s Christmas play and believed that she had not time to date.
Now the woman had two sons, and the younger son watched TV and saw commercials, and said unto her, “Why dost thou not go upon match dot com or e harmony and find thyself a husband?” And the woman said, “I am too busy,” but she pondered these things in her heart. And it came to pass that the Christmas play was performed, and the university graduation took place, and at the end of 2005 the woman found that she was less busy than she had been for many years.
